Hi! I’m Alex, Founder & President of Casual Gaming Club. Super fun fact, I was born at the University of Michigan’s hospital–Wowee! Anyway, I’ve lived in Ann Arbor all my life. I am currently enrolled in both the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts along with the Ross School of Business. I plan to achieve a dual degree in Business Administration (with an emphasis in Marketing/Advertising) and Psychology, along with Minors in both Writing and Gender, Race, and Nation (the latter is basically Women’s Studies). I like to collect my academic majors & minors like my Steam achievements, so I’m planning to get a third major in Organizational Studies later, too. My career goal is to battle objectification in media and to achieve equity in the workplace and beyond. I love to talk about psychology, marketing, research, gender studies, people’s passions, and the PHILOSOPHIES OF LIFE–but I really just enjoy talking with people about anything in general! If you see me somewhere, come and say hey and strike up a conversation with me! c:
I first started playing video games when I was around six years old, the first game I played being the MMORPG RuneScape. I instantly gained an attraction and became an avid gamer. I played RuneScape for a majority of my elementary school years before switching to Team Fortress 2 during middle school and finally MOBAs, other mainstream first-person shooters, and action-adventure games during high school. I jump off and on from games, so I can’t say I have a favorite game, but I enjoy playing Dota 2, Overwatch, League of Legends, Tom Clancy’s The Division, RuneScape (mostly OSRS), Skyrim, Mount and Blade with Fire & Sword, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Fallout 4, Torchlight II, Borderlands 2, Saints Row: The Third, The Sims (1, 2, 3 & 4) and many other co-op or team-based games. If you’ve heard or played any of the games I’ve listed here, don’t be shy and tell me what you love (and hate) about those games, too!
So, what gave me the incentive to create CGC during my first year at U of M? During my sophomore year of high school, I was a server administrator for a hub of Team Fortress 2 servers, before eventually becoming the single Head Administrator during my senior year of high school; I enjoyed having a responsible leadership position in a gaming community, which inspired me to form CGC so that I could have that same experience on a more larger scale… Most importantly, I believe gaming is a great way for people to have fun and meet new people. As the only general gaming club and especially social gaming club on campus, my intention is to make CGC an easy way for people to just hang out with other people and play games without having to deal with time commitment issues and excessive formalities that may be encountered at other clubs.
Thanks for reading all of this! Hopefully I’ll be able to talk with you at one of our events or catch up with you in our group chat!

Hi, there. My name is Hyuk, and although I’ve lived in Ann Arbor for about 8 years, I’m originally from South Korea. I’m a sophomore in the college of LSA, striving to survive in the wilderness of Computer Science with an interest in cybersecurity. Since I can remember, I’ve been playing computer games because I grew up watching my older brother play them. Some of those games include: Street Fighter, StarCraft: Brood War, and, MapleStory. Recently, I’ve been playing more competitive games like StarCraft 2, Dota 2, Overwatch, and League of Legends, and if you ever see me online on Discord, you’re always welcome to send me a message to play together. Other than gaming, I like swimming (CCRB Bell Pool if you want to join me) and watching random TED talks and eSports. If you’re reading this, I hope to meet you someday, and you’re always welcome to come chill with our crew at the events!

Hello there, I’m Joshua Howard, a Vice President for CGC. I started out with Nintendo consoles and games as a wee lad, but over time I branched into Sony, Microsoft, and PC gaming, so I sorta play everything. Outside of gaming, I really like astronomy, movies, and anime, and in my spare time, I edit memes for my YouTube channel. See ya around, sweety pie.

Hey all! I’m Duey Smith, and I’m from this tiny town of about 3,000 people called Reed City. My main areas of interest are cognitive science and anthropology through LS&A. I originally started gaming on a PlayStation 2, but now I mainly stick to my computer and my recently bought GameCube. My absolute favorite game to play is Magic the Gather (10 years strong), and I’m always looking to play commander with someone. Outside of gaming, I really enjoy reading, writing, and doing FIRST robotics events. Hit me up if you’re ever looking to play Magic the Gathering, Overwatch, or anything at all. Look forward to meeting everyone at events!

Hey there, I’m Sean Higgins! I’m an Ann Arborite, and I’m and Electrical Engineering major. I’m a . . . Junior? Senior? . . . it’s sorta complicated, if you run into me, ask if you’re curious. My first console was the PS2 (shoutouts to DDR and Spiderman: Friend or Foe), and since then I picked up a Wii, DS, and an Xbox 360 before becoming a mostly PC gamer via Minecraft & TF2 in middle school. Aside from video games I love playing any version of Mau/Mao and you’ll hardly see me turn down a game of Euchre or Hearts. This past year in the club I got really into board games, I’m a huge fan of Clank!, and am always down to play something new in Tabletop Simulator when I’m free. I also enjoy birdwatching, scuba diving, and learning cool stuff. If you ever want to talk about games, cool stuff, or like, life, hit me up. I can’t wait to game with you at the next CGC event!

Hey, I’m Darian Fortner, call me DJ, I just transferred here and I’m a sophomore in Nuclear Engineering. My first console was a Gamecube, and I just got addicted to games from there. Minecraft was my huge transition to PC, shortly after which I built my own rig. What I play changes almost daily but I typically stick to casual games. I’m also really into board games as of recently and also have an Oculus Rift. I am also really into D&D and try way too hard to find new groups. Hope to see you at CGC soon!

Hey everyone! My name is Jason Kim, and I’m a sophomore majoring in Computer Science Engineering and minoring in Biology. It’s not easy for me to define where I’m from because I lived half my life in South Korea and the other half in the United States, but I’ve spent the last four and a half years in Vernon Hills, IL. I was introduced to gaming by board games and watching my dad play StarCraft. Afterwards, I played on the original Xbox, a PlayStation 2, and a Wii before I finally settled on PC. Apart from my favorite games above, I love to host party games (Quiplash and Drawful, for example) on the side. My hobbies outside of CGC are playing the guitar, watching action and horror movies, and traveling. I love to explore the world’s cuisines, and most of my playlist is EDM and hip-hop. I applied to CGC because I believe that gaming is a great way to socialize! You can make a huge common factor between yourself and a complete stranger just by playing the same game, and even if you don’t, trying out a game that someone else plays or inviting someone to play with you would be a great icebreaker. Last but not least, thanks for reading my bio and I hope to meet you at CGC’s gaming nights!

Hello everyone, I’m David Snyder. I grew up in Illinois in a suburb outside Chicago. I’m a freshman in the College of Engineering, thinking about majoring in Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science.
My gaming life started with online MMOs like Toontown and Wizard 101. Since then I’ve explored different genres of PC gaming, playing Blizzard games, Valve games, Indie games, and a bunch of others that I can’t remember right now. I’ve made lasting friendships through gaming, and there’s nothing I like more than sitting down with some friends and having fun with a game. My most recent obsession has been with Final Fantasy XIV, where I’ve played in a raid group/static and competed to beat bosses with the fastest time or highest DPS.
I also love music. I’ve played drum set for 6 years, and am always interested in finding new and interesting songs or genres of music. I’m also in U of M’s Video Game Music club, so if you see me at an event and want to geek out over a video game soundtrack, hit me up!

Howdy there, reader! I’m Scott Flake, hailing from the distant land of the north Chicago suburbs (but also sort of from the not-so-distant land of Ann Arbor, don’t worry about it). I started gaming by stealing my sister’s GBA to play Super Mario World way back when, and I’ve not stopped since. I’ve pretty much played exclusively Nintendo stuff my whole life, but I’ve made a few forays into other domains. Especially recently, I’ve been playing a lot more PC games and I’m this close to finally snagging a PS4. My field of study used to be computer science, but it’s sort of up in the air at the moment. I’m thinking about doing some kind of history. Outside of school and games, I’m pretty into movies and I’ve been watching dangerous amounts of anime lately. I love talking about games so feel free to hit me up wherever to chat. Hope to see you at an event soon!

Favorite Games: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege, Halo (Bungie only), Mass Effect (don’t mention Andromeda in my presence), Fallout NV
Event Specialty: Standing around awkwardly waiting to ambush someone with pointless Halo trivia.
Greetings and salutat! My name is Justin Yuan. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I came here on a pre-med track, but I am currently thinking of a way to tell my parents that I am definitely not into it. My actual interests lie in political science, sociology, and history. As of late, I’ve been delving deeply into Marxist theory, the history of American oppression, and the roots and effects of US foreign policy. In addition, I love music, especially rap and hip-hop, and play the clarinet and sax and am looking to buy a ukulele so I can serenade my friends and random passersby.
I started playing video games in middle school. Mostly just Call of Duty and Halo on my Xbox 360 (campaign only, as I never had Live). I got a beat-up Macbook Pro freshman year, which really jump started my love for video games. In the 5 years since, I’ve racked up way too many hours in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as well as other FPS games like CSGO, PUBG, and Rainbow Six: Siege, but I also love open world story-driven games like Mass Effect, Fallout, and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry series. I love all kinds of movies and (re)watch tons of sitcoms. If you see me at events, don’t hesitate to come and talk to me about anything!

Hi everyone, my name is Kati! I’m in LSA and my plan is to major in computer science. My love for gaming started at the age of 4 when I received my first plug-n-play and I was hooked when I got a Game Boy Advance. I’ve played on multiple platforms over the years, but now I primarily play on PC.
I was born and raised in Newport, Michigan, which is just 40 minutes south of campus, but a lot of people consider me a “fake Michigander” because I bust out my winter coat in 50 degree weather and I don’t know how to play Euchre. You’ll most likely find me somewhere in the Dude, looking at pictures of cats, or both. With that being said, if you have pets, I would love to see them. I try to talk to everyone I can during events, but if you see me and we haven’t met yet, don’t be afraid to say hi!

Hello, gamers! My name is Jacob Garabedian. I am from Waterford, Michigan, (a suburb of Pontiac about 1 hour from Ann Arbor), and I’m a sophomore in LSA who’s planning on majoring in biomolecular science and minoring in music. Ultimately, I want to become a dentist, and I plan on applying to many dental schools soon. I am also a huge chemistry and math nerd, so if you ever want someone to talk about chemistry or math with, I am your guy.
I got into gaming when I was quite young. I started out on handheld devices like the Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Color. As I grew older, I continued the handheld trend, getting into more complicated devices like the Nintendo DS and 3DS. I then got a Wii and GameCube when I was in middle school, and I remember playing Super Mario Sunshine, Super Smash Bros Melee, and Wii Sports (the original and resort version) all the time. Eventually, when I was a freshman in high school, I got my first Xbox 360. My first game was Halo 4, and it got me hooked on FPS games. From there, I branched out and started to play more FPS games (Battlefield, CoD, and Destiny) and really any game I could get my hands on. I later got an Xbox One, and it has been my console of choice ever since, spending most of my time playing Overwatch, Destiny 2, and CoD.
Besides gaming, I love to play soccer, basketball, and volleyball. I also love to play the piano and read. Sci-fi is my favorite, but I’m open to reading anything. If you have any suggestions for a good book to read, I would love to hear what they are. Thank you for reading my bio! I hope to see ya’ll at the gaming events! See ya later, gamers!
